Largest Apple Contest Is Back!

It is officially October! Which means it is time for our Biggest Apple Contest! This year, instead of only having one winner at the end of the month, we are going to have a winner every week! We will announce the winner of the week every Monday starting on October 12th. The contest winner every week will receive TWO FREE BUCKETS OF U-PICK APPLES! The contest is judged by weight of the apple and the apple has to have been found in our orchard. We have a scale at the stand so make sure to stop and have your largest apple recorded to be entered to win the weekly prize!

Apples are ripening sooner than we have expected this fall and we were pleasantly surprised to find our Romes, Red Delicious, and Fuji are all now added to the Ripe And Ready list! This is our first harvest from our new Fuji trees! We have patiently waited five long years to be able to try them! They are much larger, crisper and have more red coloring than our old Fujis and we are SO excited for you all to try them!

Rome apples are a deep red and perfect for baking, especially if you like baking whole apples! Scoop out the core, add a little butter and brown sugar, and pop it in the oven and you will end up with a beautiful baked apple.

Red Delicious gets a bad rap for not being an awesome apple. We will admit they are not great for baking or making applesauce, but they are great when fresh off the tree for a crisp snack! If you have never had one fresh off the tree, we highly suggest trying a few!

The weather has been great and as a result our tomatoes are flourishing! The rain and frost is most likely only a couple short weeks away, so make sure to come pick some before they are done for the season! Tomatoes are $1 per pound.

Pumpkins are still doing great! We have a LOT of carving pumpkins still waiting to be chosen from the patch. They are 35 cents per pound.

Apples, Tomatoes, and Pumpkins Ripe and Ready

Looks like we have some more great weather coming our way! Now is a great time to come get some tomatoes before the weather turns and they are done for the season.
This year we planted 9 different varieties of Romas, 11 Slicers, and 4 Heirlooms. We've got everything from your traditional San Marzano to the more unique Costoluto Florentino and Carolina Gold.
Last year the first frost surprised us and hit a lot earlier then we expected which finished our tomato season much earlier than normal. Make sure to come get the tomatoes you need before the frost hits us this year! We don't want you all to miss out!
Apples are doing great! We finished up the Ruby Mac this week and are just about out of Honeycrisp. If you were still wanting some Honeycrisp this season I would make sure to pick soon!
We currently have seven varieties of apples that are ripe and ready right now and will soon have our winter storing apples beginning to ripen as well!
Pumpkins are still available as well for u or we-pick at 35 cents per pound!

Ruby Jon/Libetry/Melrose All Ready!

The rain came!! The smoke is starting to clear and we are so excited to see you all again!
Ruby Jon, Liberty and Melrose are now ripe and ready!
Ruby Jon are a super fun deep red apple that are the best applesauce apple we have. They are great for eating too and are on the sweeter side, but definitely a stand out star for saucing. If you leave a tiny bit of the peel on it will even turn your batch of applesauce pink! How fun is that?
Liberty are a fun sweet-tart super crunchy apple that are wonderful for drying. Eating of course too, but definitely our favorite apple to dry in the entire orchard.
Melrose are a great all around apple that are just a tiny bit less sweet than the Jonagold and Honeycrisp.
Tomatoes are going strong and plentiful. We have rows of Romas, Slicers, and Heirlooms that are ripe and ready for the picking!
We had a lot of fun planting pumpkins this year and are now getting to see just how fun they really are! We have 12 different varieties to choose from and yes, we even have blue and pink pumpkins! U-Pick pumpkins are 35 cents per pound.
